Hello! My name is Tara and I am a nutritionist, teacher, and world traveler . Originally from Binghamton, a city in upstate New York, my love of travel has taken me to both Central and South America, as well as all over South East Asia. I spent a few years living in Thailand as an English Teacher, before pursuing my Master’s degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport. Now I am back in Thailand with my fiance Dan, teaching Biology, Nutrition, and Food Science, as well as Head of the Science Department at Mahidol University International Demonstration School in Salaya, just outside of Bangkok.
With travel came a change in the way I looked at food. Many of the countries I visited employed techniques which put a high emphasis on flavor through the use of fresh ingredients, herbs, spices and innovative techniques. Food does not have to be filled with large portions of meat, dairy or processed ingredients to have amazing flavor.
As a Nutritionist I believe in a whole foods diet, rich in nutrients and low in processed and fast foods. Many people think that you have to choose between a healthy lifestyle and delicious food, but I’ll do my best to show you how you bridge the divide between nutrition and taste. I love cooking, especially ethnic food, and I hope I can spark an interest for you in improving your overall health by following me as I travel the world, studying what each country has to offer in the way of diet and nutrition.
